Fifth generation SLR technology allows the drive to perform data backup with high performance and reliability at a low cost for Entry Level Low Cost Server and Professional Workstations. Data protection of workstations and servers range up to 8GB in capacity. Fifth generation SLR tape technology has produced a tape drive with an extremely high level of reliability (using linear serpentine recording) while providing an initial low purchase price over the course of expected use. This drive has a mean time before failure (MTBF) rating of 300 000 hours at a 20% duty cycle. This version of the industry-standard 4/8-GB SLR Tape Drive provides an 8-GB capacity drive rated and priced for the workstation and entry-level market. It is backward read compatible with older QIC tape products ranging down to 125 MB. It complies with QIC-120 QIC-150 QIC-525 QIC-1000 QIC-2 GB and QIC-4GB data interchange standards.
